NASA Astrophysics Data System Unrestricted Resource Some full text available

References to articles published in scholarly journals, bulletins and conference publications in Astronomy and Physics.  This is not a subscription resource, but accessing it from a library page might help to enable linking to full-text articles.

To connect to Middlebury's journal collections from NASA ADS:

  1. Create a NASA ADS account and modify your settings:  a) Look for the "Sign on" link in the upper-right of every page, b) Create an account and sign in, c) Click on "My Account," d) Click on "Library Links Settings," e)  Beside "Select Library Link Server," choose "Middlebury College" from the drop-down menu.  From now on, when you sign in to your NASA ADS account, your search settings will be activated.
  2. Sign in to your NASA ADS account, then search.  In your results list, you may click on the "L" beside any reference you would like to find at Middlebury. Alternatively, you may click on the "E" or the "F" to see if NASA ADS has made the article available through its own database.

Tips:

  • Enclose phrases in quotes " " .
  • Truncate search terms with an asterisk *
  • For more tips, click "Help" in the upper-right of the search screen.

National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) Unrestricted Resource
The National Oceanographic Data Center is a national repository and dissemination facility for global oceanographic data which acquires and preserves a historical record of the Earth's changing environment to be used for operational applications and ocean climate research. NODC is an organization made up of the Oceanographic Data Center, National Coastal Data Development Center, World Data Center for Oceanography, and the NOAA Central Library which are integrated to provide access to the world's most comprehensive sources of marine environmental data and information.

NSDL is the nation's online library for education and research in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics. NSDL now provides access to audio, video, and other multimedia resources for science and math education through Apple's iTunes Store. The Beyond Campus section of iTunes U provides free access to material from museums, public radio and television stations, and other non-profit educational providers.

Navigational Charts from NOAA Unrestricted Resource
The Navigational Chart is one of the most fundamental tools available to the mariner. A Nautical Chart is a graphic portrayal of the marine environment showing the nature and form of the coast, the general configuration of the sea bottom including water depths, locations of dangers to navigation, locations and characteristics of man-made aids to navigation and other features useful to the mariner.

The world´s largest online classical music library. Offers streaming access to more than 52,677 CDs. Over 800 new CDs are added to the library every month. The library offers the complete Naxos and Marco Polo catalogues plus the complete catalogues or selected titles from over 378 classical, jazz and world music labels.  In addition, users can create playlists.

From Library of Congress.  Events of the war are detailed alongside society news and advertisements touting products of the day, creating a pictorial record of both the war effort and life at home.  The collection includes an illustrated history of World War I selected from newspaper rotogravure sections that graphically documents the people, places, and events important to the war.
